Cord Blood Banks

As a full-service laboratory for histocompatibility, microbiology and infectious disease testing, LABS is committed to providing quality testing services to ensure that we support your high standards for cord blood banking.

LABS applauds your ability to advance the cord blood banking process by assisting patients facing life-threatening diseases. As you support your patients, we support you. Our on-call expert staff is available around the clock. We perform low- and high-resolution typing for HLA-A, B, C and DR antigens on cord blood and marrow units to provide the information you need for matching cord blood and marrow cells to potential recipients.

In addition to providing HLA-related services, LABS also performs stem cell (CD34) enumeration and cellular viability using flow cytometric methods. The Immunogenetics Department at LABS is accredited by the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI). Our Laboratory Director is a Diplomate of the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI). We employ both certified Histocompatibility Technologists and Specialists and provide consultation for all our testing to meet your histocompatibility needs.

Our Microbiology Department tests cord blood segments for both aerobic and anaerobic organisms. We can also test for antibiotic sensitivity.

FDA-approved testing is performed for the purposes of screening patients for infectious diseases; this includes Nucleic Acid Testing for HIV, HBV, and HCV, antibodies to HIV-1 and 2, HCV, Hepatitis B Virus core and surface antigen, Syphilis and CMV.

In addition to our ASHI accreditation, LABS is Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and approved to test for numerous states across the country. As a full-service laboratory for histocompatibility, microbiology and infectious disease testing, LABS is committed to providing quality testing services to ensure that we support your high standards for cord blood and marrow.
